Since then, Georgetown has added the Belford National District and The University Avenue/Elm Street District to the prestigious list. These preservation efforts have led to Georgetown being named as Texas’s first city to be named a national “Main Street City.” Additionally, Georgetown is widely-recognized as one of the best places in the country to buy a historic home following an extensive restoration program in many of the city’s historic neighborhoods.
